Freeport: Gerold W. Evers, 74 of Freeport died Saturday February 6, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Born December 7, 1935 in Freeport he was the son of Paul and Julie (Walter) Evers. Gerold worked at Furst McNess for over 30 years retiring in 1999. He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and had a passion for gardening and landscaping. He is survived by his brother, Reverend James (Alane) Evers of Oak Ridge, TN; three nieces, Lisa (John ) Wiegand of Oak Ridge, TN, Julie (Howard) Haynes of Knoxville, TN and Angie (Chris) Kelley of Monteray, Cal. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday February 12, 2010 at the Chapel of Peace in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg and Reverend Richard "Ros" Schultz of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.
