Obituary

Glen Michael Volk , age 77, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024. He was born to Michael and Mary Ann (Suvada) Volk on December 22, 1946.

He graduated from Gage Park High school in 1964 where he was proud to be a member of the school band being the clarinet 1st chair. He also played the saxophone.

After graduating he attended National Lewis University graduating with honors with degrees in computer science and behavioral science. His career took him from computer operator to company comptroller.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan (née Randazzo) Volk; his son, Daniel (and his wife, Carrie née Skowronski) Volk; his daughter, Maryanne (née Volk), Montgomery and her husband, Daniel along with his seven cherished grandchildren: Dylan Schrode, Lauren Montgomery, Emma Montgomery, Mila Montgomery, Sophie Volk, Brandon Volk, and Carly Volk.

Glen was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, golfing and boating. His love and fondness for all things outdoors led him to many memorable adventures. In a testament to his skill and passion for hunting, he proudly made the Boone & Crockett record book with an impressive buck taken in 1997. In addition to being a member and officer in the Beagle & Bass Pheasant Club, he penned two amazing books so current and future generations could appreciate the unforgettable moments spent with his son and friends in the fields, streams, and lakes in Illinois and Canada throughout the years.

When he wasn't outdoors, Glen enjoyed the companionship of friends and playing various card games while listening to his favorite tunes.

Glen and Sue loved to travel and were fortunate to see many parts of the United States along with most of the Caribbean Islands. He also loved being in his home in Florida during the winters.

A devoted family man, Glen was known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering support. He was a loving husband, a caring father, and a proud "Papa" to his grandchildren, whom he adored. His selfless nature and willingness to help others will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Glen's life was a true reflection of dedication to his family, friends, and the things he enjoyed most. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories of his generous spirit and love of life will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate to have known him.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Glen's life will take place at a future time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Glen's name to "Pan Can" an organization close to his heart. https://pancan.org/
