Obituary

Glenn Ray "Butch" Busjahn, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Medina Nursing Home in Durand, Illinois.

Glenn was born January 5, 1947 in Freeport, Illinois, the son of the late Ray and Betty (Griffin) Busjahn.

Glenn graduated from Dakota High School in 1966.

Upon graduation from Dakota High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, and completed his technical training for ground radio maintenance at Keesler Air Force Base. He served proudly from 1966 to 1970 and was discharged honorably.

Glenn married Donna Spelman on March 20, 1976 at Saint Patrick's Church in Irish Grove. They have two children, Andrew and Kara.

Glenn worked 33 years at Micro Switch (now a division of Honeywell), in Freeport, Illinois as a tool and die maker.

Glenn was a scout leader for 16 years with Troop 40 of Davis, Illinois, and was a member of VietNow.

Glenn enjoyed hunting and fishing, and his trips to Hawaii and the British Isles with his wife, Donna. He especially enjoyed his trip with Vets Roll to Washington, D.C. in May of 2025. He also enjoyed watching football, and was as proud a Packers fan as he was an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna. His son, Andrew, of Rockford, Illinois. And his daughter, Kara, of Davis, Illinois. His grandchildren: Andrew II, Abigail, Joshua, and Charles Busjahn, Xander Busjahn, and Deklan Olesen.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Betty Busjahn, and his grandparents Albert and Mabel (Janicke) Busjahn.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The funeral will be held on November 7, 2025 10:30 AM at Saint Patrick's Church on 5333 North Irish Grove Road, Davis, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held on November 28, 2025 from 1-4pm at The Eagles Club on 1200 West Galena Avenue, Freeport, Illinois.

The family is being assisted by the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home of Dakota, IL. A memorial has been designated in his name for the All Veteran's Memorial Park of Freeport.
