Obituary

Glenn A. Ditsworth, age 94 of Freeport, IL, passed away at Manor Court in Freeport on Saturday, February 1, 2025. He was born March 26, 1930; the son of the late Howard and Alice (Blair) Ditsworth. Glenn was a 1948 graduate of Warren High School where he played on the football team. He married Ruth Deyo on October 23, 1951; she passed on March 6, 2019.

Glenn served in the United State Air Force during the Korean War. He was discharged as Staff Sargent. After his service he returned to Warren, IL where he began working at MicroSwitch where he was a supervisor and later, plant manager. After retirement he worked as groundskeeper for Advanced Transformers in Monroe, WI. He also drove bus for the Senior Center.

While living in Warren, Glenn served on the Fire Department, some of which time he was Fire Chief. He was also Police Commissioner and served on the town board. Glenn was also a member of the Warren American Legion Post 464 where he served as Commander and Treasurer. His favorite part of living in Warren was spending time on the farm.

Glenn enjoyed fishing, watching professional wrestling, dancing, catching turtles and making soup, and listening to polka and old western music. He also loved dancing and watching classic western movies, especially John Wayne movies. His favorites were taking rides to the casino, family reunions and hog roasts where he walked around with his dog, Daisy.

He is survived by his son, Tim Ditsworth of Benton, WI; daughters, Debbie Fleischer of Freeport and Sandy (Joe) Lacy of Belleville, WI; grandchildren, Jason Cross, Jodi (Andy) Graber, Greg Ditsworth, and Hannah Lacy; great grandchildren, Jackson and Jamison; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; brothers, Colonel, Gailand, and Russell; sisters, Lois and Doris; son-in-law, Kevin Fleischer; daughter-in-law, Jewel McNett-Ditsworth; and step-grandson, Chase McAuliffe.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established for FHN Hospice.
