Glenn L. Kampmier, 94, of Freeport, died Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Freeport Rehabilitation & Care Center.
Born November 21, 1916 in Lanark he was the son of Frederick and Viola (Sturtz) Kampmier. He married Merna Brinkmeier April 3, 1969.
Glenn worked for Sundstrand both in Freeport and Rockford. He also worked for Micro Switch Company in Freeport.
He was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Freeport.
Surviving are his wife, Merna of Freeport; 1 son, Thomas (Lenora) Kampmier of Rockford; 6 step-daughters, Geraldine (Kenneth) Shons, Donna (Karl) Downing, and Pauline Southard all of Freeport, Joyce Baker of California, Beverly (Ron) Huyck of Rockford and Sandra (Charles) Robinson of Reno, Nevada; 1 step-son, Terry (Mona) Johnson of Rockford; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Kenneth Kampmier; and 1 sister, Marion Penticoff.
Visitation will be 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Walker Mortuary followed by his funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established for United Presbyterian Church.
