Obituary

Glenn R. TerHark, 79, of Winslow, formerly of Freeport, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.
He was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Stephenson County, the son of Fred and Mary Alta TerHark.
Glenn was a 1946 graduate of Dakota High School and U.S. Navy Veteran. He and Elaine Jones were married July 20, 1957, in Freeport.
Mr. TerHark worked for the Freeport Fire Department, retiring after 21 years of service. He later worked at Highland Community College in the Maintenance department for 15 years.
Glenn was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Winslow; two sons, James (Marianela) TerHark of Rockford and Alan TerHark of Winslow; three grandchildren, Jamie, Nelly and Monserrat, all of Rockford; one brother, Maurice (Corolyn) TerHark of Rockford; one sister, Alice DeVries of Freeport; and dear friend, Shirley Lamm of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Russell, Elmer and Don; and Glenn's twin sister, Gladys.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Dakota Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
