Gloria A. Yoder, 86, of Freeport, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at Pearl Pavilion in Freeport.
Born in 1929, she was the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Johnson) Raetz. Gloria worked in retail sales at many locations in the Freeport area for 30 years that included Kresge's, Jupiter, McCrory's, Wagner's Office
Supply and she retired from Kmart.
Gloria was raised in Davis, IL and she was a 1947 graduate of Dakota High School
She was a member of RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer organization at Highland Community College) for 20 years and the Red Hats.
Gloria enjoyed fresh caught pan fish, peach pie, exercising at the YWCA pool, playing cards, going to plays, road trips, crocheting, sewing, board games, euchre, and bunko with her friends.
Surviving are her children, Sherri (Dick) Mullen, Randy (Debbie) Yoder, Jack (Marcia Hepler) Yoder, Curtis (Rose) Yoder all of Freeport, Nick (Joan) Yoder of Minnesota; 2 sisters, Marian Wilkins of Savanna and Holly Miller of Sterling; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Gary Raetz; and 4 sisters, Marilyn Weaver, Betty Drane, Charlotte Downing, and Lana Kahler.
Funeral service will be 11am Friday May 6, 2016 at Walker Mortuary with Diane Jochum officiating.
Visitation will be 10 am Friday, May 6, 2016 until time of service.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established for Winneshiek Theatre.
Gloria and her family would like to give special thanks to the Ferguson Cancer Center, Pearl Pavilion, FHN Hospice and all of her amazing friends that supported Gloria through the two year battle with cancer.
