Grace Jane Klenz, 96, of Freeport, died September 26, 2023 with her family at her side in Dakota.  She was born August 22, 1927 in Pecatonica, the daughter of Henry and Jennie Alice (Friemuth) Viel.  She graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1951.  Grace married Kenneth Allen Klenz on December 20, 1956 in Ridott.  Grace farmed with her husband and did clerical work for Burgess Battery, Freeport Fast Freight and Structo all in Freeport.  She also was a seamstress.  Grace was an active member and treasurer of German Valley United Methodist Church.

Grace is lovingly survived by her children, Judith (David) Frautschy of Rockton, Nancy (Ivan) Jones of Friendsville, TN and Mark (Theresa) Klenz of Dakota; Grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Buss, Miranda (David) Schulenberg, Nicole Sivertsen, Dallas (Amanda) Shippy, Mitchell Frautschy, Katie Frautschy, Jesse (Fiance Angie Humphrey) Rose, Kevin (Alicia) Klenz, Jennifer (Tyler) Vails, Carl (special friend, Jamie Huenefeld) Klenz; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Henry (Janice) Viel of Pecatonica; sister-in-law, Maude Viel of Pecatonica.

Grace is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ken Klenz; brothers, Harm Viel, Fred Viel, George Viel, infant brother, Albert Viel and her sister, Kathryn Vautsmeier.

There will be a visitation on Monday, October 2, 2023 beginning at 10am at Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church in German Valley.  A service will immediately follow at 11am also at the church.  Interment will be at Christian Reformed Church Cemetery in German Valley.  In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established at Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church.
