Freeport- Grace P. Koch, 99, of Freeport, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born November 19, 1905 in Freeport she was the daughter of Henry and Emma (Dammeier) Prasse. She married Roy E. Koch in 1929 and he preceded her in death in 1957.
A lifetime member of St. John United Church of Christ she was a member of Dorcus Circle, Women's Fellowship and the Golden Ager's of the church.
Grace devoted her life to loving service. She was especially noted for cooking, serving, and hosting church dinners, receptions, and coffees. She is remembered for all the cookies she baked to share.
Surviving is her daughter, Carol (John) Sokatch of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, David Sokatch of Garland, TX, Barbara (Bryan) Buchan of Austin, TX, and Karen (Neil) Geismar of Houston, TX; six great grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister.
Funeral service will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at the St. John United Church of Christ with the Reverend Randy Nicholas of Lena Salem United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
