Grant F. Burckhardt

Grant F. Burckhardt, age 81 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026. He was born on January 27, 1945, to the late Robert and Cleone (Slamp) Burckhardt.

Grant was a graduate of Freeport High School and went to earn his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois. On April 10, 1976, he married Norma Shway and they had their son, Greg, on July 15, 1987.

A lifelong dairy farmer, Grant took pride in his work and the life he built. He enjoyed playing softball and basketball and was a devoted Chicago sports fan. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren, especially playing games and hearing about their school and sporting events.

Grant is remembered by his son, Greg (Courtney) Burckhardt of Freeport, Illinois, and his grandchildren Evelyn, Aria, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Cleone Burckhardt, his brother Mark Burckhardt, and his wife Norma (Shway) Burckhardt.
