Harold Duane Hasting, 65, of Freeport, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at his home.
Born January 2, 1943 in Osceola, Iowa he was the son of Harold and Gladys (Judkins) Hasting. He married Pam Stauffacher April 29, 1989.
Duane received his Bachelor's Degree from Iowa State University and his law degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa in 1969.
Duane was an attorney in Freeport for 39 years currently practicing law at Hasting Law Offices.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church serving as chairman of the Board of Personnel. He was a past president of Freeport Noon Rotary and past board member of Family Life Center (New Horizons) and the YMCA.
Duane was an avid Hunter and fisherman.
Surviving is his wife Pam, of Freeport; two sons, Chad D. (Geraldine) Hasting of Kent, Washington and Grant W. Hasting at home in Freeport; one daughter, Heidi (Ryan) Miller of Merryville, Illinois; 4 grandchildren, Chelsea, Logan, and Dylan Hasting of Kent, Washington, and Colin Miller of Merryville, Illinois; two sisters, Lois (Jim) Davis of Clio, Iowa and Velma (Don) Turner of Lacona, Iowa.; one brother, David Hasting of Omaha, Nebraska; and his mother in-law, Harriet Stauffacher of Freeport; his sister in-law, Donna (Stauffacher) Robertson of Crystal Lake; many cousins; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorial services will be Monday 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Dr. Willis R. Schwichtenberg officiating. Internment of his cremated remains will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 6 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
