Obituary

Harold R. "Abe" Aebly, 75, of Freeport, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center with his wife at his side.
Born September 23, 1933 in Orangeville he was the son of Ralph and Ida (Kuhnke) Aebly. He married Lucille R. Burkhalter April 16, 1955.
He worked for two construction companies building homes and other projects. Harold worked at J.H. Patterson Company for 19 years. He then was a driver for area auto dealerships.
He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict he was a member of the VFW.
Harold was an avid NASCAR fan. In his earlier years he was involved in Drag Racing attending local area drag strips. He especially enjoyed helping with his son's drag car.
He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's concerts and music contests.
Surviving is his wife, Lucille of Freeport; 2 sons, Jeffrey (Cuc) Aebly of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Thomas (Robin) Aebly of Pearl City; 2 grandchildren, Amber Aebly of Freeport and Jared Aebly of Pearl City; 1 sister, Joyce (Daurel) Leverton of Freeport; 2 brothers, Roger (Bonnie) Aebly of Dakota and Robert (Vera) Aebly of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 6 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established.
