Harold Benoit, age 75 of Freeport, IL, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born May 16, 1941; the son of Paul and Glenna (Kolwelter) Benoit. He graduated from the Former St. Patrick's High School. He then received his Bachelors Degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He married Janette Cable on February 20, 1982.

Harold had a career in sales and engineering. He was a member of St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport. In his younger years he enjoyed working on cars and scooters. He was an avid boater and he and his wife enjoyed boating together. He was excellent pianist and loved to entertain people by playing.

Harold is survived by his wife Janette Benoit of Freeport; mother, Glenna Benoit of Kankakee, IL; son, Chris Benoit of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Tracey (Tom) Koerner of New Lenox, IL and Chelsea (Eric Piwcewicz) Benoit of Loves Park, IL; brother, Dave (Mary) Benoit; sisters, Judy (Bob) Sunko and Jane Cahan; grandchildren; Ashley, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Makenzie, Issac and Scarlett; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul and sister, Janet.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A remembrance visitation will be held Wednesday, December 21st form 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, IL. A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, December 22nd at 10:30 am at St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
