Harold R. "Herm" Nott, 95 of Rock City died Friday May 29, 2009 at his home. Born January 16, 1914 in Dakota he was the son of George and Grace (Zimmerman) Nott. On August 17, 1937 he married Vilette H. Meier at the Little Brown Church in the vale at Nachusa, IA, she preceded him in death on July 10, 1982.
He owned and operated H.R. Nott Excavating for many years retiring in 1980. He and Vilette enjoyed traveling and after her death Herm took up golfing going to Texas for the winters.
He is survived by one brother Albert E. (Loretta) Hufford of Freeport; 2 sisters Norma (Jim) Gentz of Freeport, Marjorie Nelson of Minnesota; 3 sisters-in-law Phyllis Fisher of Ca., Iva (Robert) Miller of Freeport, Louise Meier of Freeport; one brother-in-law Ike (Margie) Meier of Freeport and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Vilette.
Visitation will be 4pm until 6pm Monday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Tuesday June 2, 2009 at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home 115 S. W. Street Dakota.
Burial will be in the Rock City Cemetery in Rock City.
A memorial has been established in his name for the Rock City United Methodist Church.
