Harold E Peters, 88, of Freeport, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born April 2, 1922 in Freeport he was the son of Walter and Fannie (Bruning) Peters. He married Virginia M. Moore July 23, 1943 in Los Angeles, California and she died April 3, 2003 in Freeport.
Harold was a carpenter for 40 years and cofounder of LMP Builders.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II.
Surviving is his Son, Jeff (Ann) Peters of Freeport; 1 grandson, Chris (Rebecca) Peters of Freeport; 3 granddaughters, Erin Peters of Fort Myers, Florida, Lori (Chris) Lowe of Normal, and Amy Scovel of Bloomington; 2 step grandsons, Billy (Terri) Murray and Michael (Debbie) Murray both of Freeport; 3 great-grandsons, Clayton Neuschwander of Freeport, Owen and Brody Lowe of Normal; 1 step-grandson, Tyler Murray; 2 step granddaughters, Kylie and Taylor Murray both of Freeport; his special friend, Phyllis Batchelder of Lake Wales, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and daughter, Susan.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
There will be a gathering for family and Friends Friday 4 to 7 at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial service will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Interment of his cremated remains will be in the Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
