Harriet B. Puttcamp, 96, of Freeport, formerly of Princeton, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Manor Court.
Born July 14, 1911 in Princeton she was the daughter of Horace and Harriet (Gray) Brown. She married Everett Puttcamp September 12, 1938 and he died in 1953 leaving her a widow at age 42.
Harriet raised her two daughters sending them both to college.
She worked in the Bureau County Circuit Clerk's office and was a receptionist for Dr. Nelson and his son.
She was a long time member of St. Mathews Lutheran Church in Princeton where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member.
She was a volunteer for the Lovejoy Home in Princeton.
Harriet was a close friend to Bernice Raker and together they traveled extensively.
She moved to Freeport in 2000 to be close to family.
Surviving are her daughters, Sarah (Hugh) Knapp of Freeport and Judith (John Price) Daykin of Key West, Florida; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; one brother; and one great grandchild.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in the chapel at Oakland Cemetery in Princeton. Internment of her cremated remains will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Freeport Concert Band.
