Freeport-Harriet Susan Rees, 94, of Freeport, died Monday, November 22, 2004, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center. Born January 24, 1910 in Freeport she was the daughter of Clarence and Grace (Oswald) Best. She married Dallas L. Rees June 1, 1929
and he died January 23, 1965. She retired from Micro Switch in 1975 after 19 years and 4 months. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Harriet was an avid card player and she enjoyed playing "500" with her card club friends for more than 65 years. Harriet enjoyed crafts, fishing, and belonged to the Senior Volunteer Program for 25 years. Surviving are one sister, Irene Foutch of Freeport; 3 grandsons,
Kevin (Irma) Rees of Corpus Christi, Texas, Eugene (Alice) Rees of Grayslake, and Randall Rees Spring Grove; 5 great-grandchildren Dallas, Brandon, Mitch, Jonathon and Olivia Rees. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard; 1 sister, Bertha; 2 brothers, Joseph and Emanuel. Funeral service and burial will be Monday 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Reverend Neville Kretzmann of First Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be Monday 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the Chapel of Peace. A memorial has been established for First Lutheran Church.
