Hazel M. Brown, 83, of Freeport, died Sunday, December 26, 2010, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born May 27, 1927 in Freeport she was the daughter of Miles and Elizabeth (Shellenberger) Gramley. She married Fred Brown October 6, 1956 and he died August 11, 2000.
Hazel worked at Micro Switch Company in Freeport and Kable Printing Company in Mt. Morris.
She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ.
An avid card player she enjoyed time spent with her friends and family.
Surviving is 1 daughter, Kimberlee A. (Brad) DeWall of LeClaire, Iowa; 5 sons, James A. Brown of Freeport, Brian S. (Christine) Brown of Bloomington, Timothy M. (Cheryl) Brown of Berthoud, Colorado, Larry L. (Carolyn) Sluiter of Freeport, and Thomas D. (Jan Kloster) Sluiter of German Valley; 1 sister, Lorene Weiand of Freeport; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 1 brother, Dale.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. in Bethany United Church of Christ with Reverend Robert Sherman officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Stephenson Nursing Center.
