Helen M. Kornelly, 89, of Freeport died Wednesday March 9, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Home. Born in Red Oak on April 1, 1921 she was the daughter of Charles and Estella (Meads) Stanton. In April of 1941 she married Ralph Roth, he passed away in December of 1969, later she married Jacob Kornelly and he also preceded her in death in 1990. Helen retired from Montgomery Wards. She was a longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church and during that time she served on the deacon board and is a current member Lena United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family and loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, reading and crocheting. Surviving are her daughters Sandra (Lou) Salters of Tampa, FL, Jacquelyn (Gordon) Edler of Lena; grandchildren Kirsten (Tom) Hollister of Shannon, Jared Binkley of Lena; two great granddaughters Abigale Hollister of Shannon, Jessica Conway of Polo; a sister Ruth Gough of Freeport. Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands, five brothers and three sisters.
