Helen F. Pontnack, 100, of Freeport, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Freeport Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Born January 13, 1912 in Orangeville she was the daughter of Gusto and Dora (Jordan) Trester. She married Clifford Pontnack May 24, 1930 and he died in 1974.
Helen was a farm wife in Lancaster Township. After her retirement she moved to Freeport and owned the Little Hut Restaurant.
She loved fishing, playing cards, was an avid sewer making lots of baby quilts, and loved to dance until her 90th birthday. Most of all she loved time spent with her grandchildren.
Surviving is her daughter, Shirley (Dale) Buss of Freeport; her sons, Robert (Jackie) Pontnack of Rockford, Gary (Beverly) Pontnack and Keith (Rose) Pontnack both of Freeport; 14 grandchildren; and many great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, Kenny; 3 sisters, Neva Fransen, Irene Pontnack, and Ruth McDonald; 2 brothers, Leon and Orville Trester.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday June 17th, 2012 at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for FHN Hospice.
