Helen M. Steimle, 95, of Freeport, died Monday, January 31, 2011, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born February 10, 1915 in Peoria, Illinois she was the daughter of Edward and Mabel (Potter) Sullivan. She married George W. Steimle III on January 7, 1936 in Kewanee, Illinois and he preceded her in death in 1963.
She was a Kewanee, Illinois public schools graduate and a St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing Kewanee graduate with a R.N. degree.
During her career she was a nurse for Dr. Reiger's office in Freeport, Surgery Ward Clerk at Freeport Memorial Hospital, and Retail Clerk at FA Read Company in Freeport.
Her memberships included, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeport Women's Bowling Association, Women's International Bowling Congress, Illinois Women's Bowling Association, AARP, and Cub's fan club.
Surviving are her children, Frances A. (Carl) Sanford, of Cayuga, NY, Barbara J. (Harry) Phillips and H. Kay (Kelly) Kleckler both of Freeport; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, George W. (Doris) Steimle IV of Tacoma, WA; 2 brothers; 2 sisters, and 1 great-great grandson.
Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 6 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Family graveside services and burial will be in Kewanee, Illinois.
A memorial has been established in her name.
