Henry J. Blehinger, 93, of Freeport died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born December 8, 1919 in Freeport he was the son of Edward and Josephine (Merhaut) Blehinger.
On November 3, 1940 he and Jean Hersey were united in marriage, she preceded him in death in September of 2009.
Henry worked as Yard Master for the Illinois Central Railroad for 42 years retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and former member of the Tebala Shrine. Surviving are his children Susan (Todd) Carey of Freeport, Lee (Mary) Blehinger of Freeport, Keith Blehinger of Milwaukee, WI; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two sisters Helen Brinkmeier of Pearl City and JoAnne Fortner of Freeport.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, three sisters, two brothers, one son and one granddaughter. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 1 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Masonic service will start at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service with Reverend Don Jamerson officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Freeport.
A memorial has been established in his name for the Freeport Shrine Memorial.
