Obituary

Henry E. Sass, 90, of Ridott, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born March 2, 1922 in Clayton, Wisconsin he was the son of Carl and Augusta (Kohn) Sass. He married Alice Moore October 14, 1944 and she died December 21, 1994. He married Margaret Turner Moore August 23, 1997.
Henry was a WW II Army veteran serving from January 1945 to October 23, 1946 in the 27th Field Artillery Division in Okinawa, Japan.
His memberships included Legion Post # 379 in Shannon, Freeport VFW, and the First United Methodist Church in Freeport.
Henry farmed in the Shannon area for many years and then worked for the Shannon School District as custodian and bus driver until his retirement.
Surviving is wife, Margaret of Ridott; his children, Richard (Deb) Sass of Hanover, Saranne (Greg) Stamm of Dakota, Kay (Richard) Sweitzer of Lanark, Donna (Carl) Ward of Loran; his step-daughter, Marlene Shippy of Freeport; his grandchildren, James (Carrie) Dyer, Robert (Christie) Dyer, Tamara (Dan) Albertson, Margo Dyer, Shannon Sass, Heather (Jason) Mathews, Matthew Stamm, Timothy Sweitzer, and Rebecca Sweitzer, 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice; his daughter, Gloria Dyer; his son, Dennis Sass; a grandson, Mark Sweitzer; his parents; and all of his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Walker Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established.
