Ione Mae (McLenahan) Guentherman , 102 of Freeport died on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Garden Court of Liberty Village in Freeport.

Born on November 11, 1916, in Freeport, she was the daughter of Milton Boyd "Mickey" and Christine Johanna "Crissie" (Bleymeyer) McLenahan.

She graduated from Freeport High School with the class of 1934. On October 14, 1937 she and Albert W. "Red" Guentherman were united in marriage.  After 74 years of marriage, Albert died in November 2011 at age 97 in Freeport.  She worked for the former Burgess Battery, then E&W Clothing House, and then Micro Switch in Freeport until retiring in 1976.  Albert worked for the former Union Dairy of Freeport until retiring in 1976. After retiring, she and Albert spent the next 28 years in Clearwater, FL, returning to Freeport in 2005.

She is survived by one son, Larry J. (Pauline "Penny") Guentherman of Torrance, CA; one daughter, Gail G. (Dean) Spielman of Davis, IL (Lake Summerset); one granddaughter, Jane A. (Hugo) Bustamante of Cypress, CA; three grandsons, Stephen L. Guentherman of Lawndale, CA, Michael S. (Laura) Spielman of Phoenix, AZ, and Mark D. Spielman of Freeport; four great-granddaughters Erin K. Spielman and Tara K. Spielman both of Phoenix, AZ, Ashley M. Bustamante of Cypress, CA and Brianna R.C. Spielman of Freeport. Two great-grandsons, Dylan D. Spielman of Freeport and Dominick E. Bustamante of Cypress, CA; two brothers, William L. (Norma) McLenahan and James A. (Barbara) McLenahan both of Freeport ; and by many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert, her mother, Crissie who died after surgery in 1939 at age 47 in Freeport; her father Milton who died in 1979 at age 89 in Freeport; two sisters, M. Bernice (Lyle) Cline who died in 2007 at age 92 in San Dimas, CA and Maxine J. (John) Wahler who died in 2009 at age 90 in Sigurd, Utah; and her grandson-in-law, Hugo Bustamante who died in 2009 at age 46 in Long Beach, CA.

Cremation rites have been accorded with Walker Mortuary and Cremation Services in Freeport.  There will be no service at Ione's request.
