Obituary

Freeport-Irene M. Stebbins, 89, of Freeport, died Monday, February 7, 2005 at her home.
Born November 25, 1915 in Cutbank, Montana she was the daughter of Charles and Genevieve (Niesen) Taft. She married Edgar D. "Bill" Stebbins February 9, 1952 and he died September 6, 1996.
During World War II she worked for the Owen Electric Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was an active member and past queen of the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club and a member of Friends Forever Humane Society. An accomplished seamstress she was known for her homemade quilts and button collection. Creative by nature, she enjoyed crafts and could make something without a pattern.
Surviving are 3 sons, George P. ("Squeek") Gondorchin of Cedar, Minnesota, Gene (Linda) Gondorchin of Fridley, Minnesota and Joel (Rose Walton) Stebbins of Forreston, 2 daughters, Bridget Kildress of Port, Oregon and Billie Stewart of Pearl City; 1 brother, Levi (Doris) Taft of Kalispell, Montana; 1 sister, Lorraine Oberfeld of Onamia, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; several great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, Frank; 3 brothers; 4 sisters
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Diane Jochum of FHN Memorial Hospice officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for FHN Memorial Hospice.
