IN LOVING MEMORY OF
J. Hunter
Lincoln
June 12, 1942 – October 24, 2017
Hunter attended school in New York until his family moved to Freeport when he was in Junior High. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1960 and Lincoln College in 1962.
On February 14, 1969 he married "the love of his life," Mary Ellen Schubert Franz. Together they raised two daughters; Kimberly Cyr of Sycamore and Tiffany Lincoln of Freeport. Hunter was the proud Grandpa of three grandsons: Adam and Nicholas Cyr and Collin Challenger
Hunter was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a 44 year Mason most recently with a membership to Evergreen Lodge #0170.
Early in his work life he was a commercial pilot and would often speak of the time he was able to fly the Governor of Illinois. Later in his work life he was in sales, retiring from Sears when Sears left Freeport.
Hunter enjoyed wood working. The joy sort of ended when he sliced three of his fingers with the band saw. He also enjoyed boating and camping on the Mississippi River with the gang at 551.
Hunter was always a Brooklyn Dodgers fan but after moving to Illinois, he started cheering for the Chicago Cubs! Since the Cubs did not make the World Series he was very pleased that "his Dodgers" did. Hunter enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. His greatest joy was watching his grandsons in sports.
Hunter is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; daughters, Kim and Tiffany; grandsons, Adam, Nicholas, and Collin; brothers, Rodger (Naomi) Lincoln and Charles (June) Lincoln; sister, Ashley Lincoln; sister-in-law, Jean Lincoln; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents; Jack and Helen Lincoln; in-laws, Glen and Ione Schubert; and his brother, John Kent Lincoln, Jr.
The family wishes to thank the Freeport Fire EMS, FHN ED, Cath lab and ICU. A special thanks to Dr's Malladi, Kilaru, Khan and Pale, as well as nurses: Lydia, Wendy, Tonya, Renato, Becky, Morgan and phlebotomist, Elaine who always had a smile. They are grateful for the Cath lab crew of Bethany, Kristen and Jim who came in on their day off to perform a procedure. The care Hunter received was second to none!
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 29 th at 2:30 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport with a visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. A memorial fund has been established for the FHN Foundation.Visits: 0
