Pearl City - James E. Griffin Sr. "Popeye", 62, of Pearl City, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at his home.
Born March 5, 1944 in Freeport he was the son of Beulah (Horton) Griffin. He married Beatrice J. Chapman January 8, 1966.
He worked at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company for 33 years, serving as Secretary of the Union for 22 years, and retiring in 2001.
He was a Vietnam Army Veteran.
His memberships included, VIETNOW, V.F.W., American Legion, A.B.A.T.E., and H.O.G.
Surviving is his wife, Beatrice of Pearl City; one daughter, Marcett (Chris) Dickman of Lanark; two sons, James (Stacey) Griffin Jr. of Lena and Keith (Deb) Griffin of Pearl City; one sister, Dixie (Tom Fleming) Husemann of Dubuque, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea, Mikel, Drew, Tori, Trey, Austin, Trevor, Courtney, Brady, and Keenan; one sister in-law, Barbara (Jim) Foley of Savanna.
Funeral service will be Friday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Albert Suarez officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
