James A. "Jim" Vehmeier, 79, of Freeport, died Monday, December 16, 2013, at Presence St. Joseph Home.
Born July 3, 1934 in Rock City he was the son of Harry and Marie (Long) Vehmeier.
He married Phyllis Koeller September 21, 1957.
Jim owned and operated Vehmeier Electric for 20 years in Freeport.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Gideon International.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis of Freeport; his daughters, Dawn Vehmeier of Arlington, Virginia and Kristy Ammon of Freeport; his grandchildren, Kayla, Hannah and Abigail Ammon all of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Bill, Jack and Larry Vehmeier.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Faith United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Faith United Methodist Church.
Memorials have been established for Gideon's International and Faith United Methodist Church.
