Obituary

Freeport-James Charles, Kantor, 55, of Freeport, died Friday May 21, 2004 in Freeport.
Born August 30, 1948 in Evergreen Park he was the son of James C. and Charlotte (Mueller) Kantor. He married Merry Blake June 14, 1970 in Oak Park.
He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Illinois
He served in the United States Army from 1972 until 1992. Retiring as a Major.
He worked for the Stephenson County Court House from 1995-2003.
His memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church and Stephenson Society of Model Trainmen. He also held a private pilots license as well as an instructor license.
Surviving are his wife; of Freeport; one son, James Cary (Maria) Kantor of St. Louis, Missouri; his parents of Chicago; two brothers; three sisters; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend John Cahill officiating. Burial will be in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery near Joliet, Illinois.
Friends may call Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, with a Rosary service
