Freeport – James M. Lee, 83 of Freeport passed away peacefully at Winn Prairie on Sunday, March 13, 2022.  He was born May 21, 1938 to the late Ronald and Alice (Shawver) Lee in Sac City, Iowa.  He married Mary Keyes on June 19, 1960 in Marithon, Iowa.  Together they raised three children.

James was a veteran of the Army serving from 1958 to 1962.  He was also a member of Harmony United Methodist Church of Freeport.  He served in many capacities in the area.  He was Past President of the Monroe Clinic Board of Directors. Past President of the Freeport Art Museum Board of Directors and he also served as President of Furst McNess.  He was an avid woodworker, He loved to travel, boat, read and he loved to take his family to their summer home at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Surviving him are his wife of Freeport, Sons, Jeffrey (Melissa Kiple) Lee of West Burlington, IA; Brian (Sharon) Lee of Mission Viejo, CA and daughter, Jennifer (Terri Apking) Lee of Freeport.  His legacy also includes 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his Parents and his brother, Robert Lee.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 17th at 1pm at Harmony United Methodist Church beginning at 1pm. A memorial has been established for the Alzheimer's Association and FHN Hospice. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
