James "Jim" Long Sr, age 81, of Dakota passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was born on June 24, 1942 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Harold and Rita (Schaffer) Long.  James attended Benton Schools. On March 12, 1965 he was united in marriage to Jeneal Anschutz in Darlington, Wisconsin. James and Jeneal resided in Dakota, IL for the past 47 years raising their three children. James worked at Chrysler for 35 years retiring in 2001. Prior to Chrysler he in worked in farming. James and Jeneal enjoyed their summer home in Bagley, WI for 15 years. James had many hobbies including collecting things, playing cards with friends, woodworking, going to the Q Casino in Dubuque, but truly enjoyed and took great pride in mowing his lawn. James was a member of the Eagle Club in Freeport.

James is survived by his loving wife, Jeneal; daughter, LilyAnn (James) Downing of Mesa, Arizona; sons James (Lori) Long Jr of Janesville, WI; Troy Long of Davenport, IA.; grandchildren, Troy James (TJ) (Summer) Brunkow, Tory Brunkow, Tanner (Brooke) Brunkow, Eric Houy, Brandon (Sarah) Welch and Conner (Gretchen) Long. 7 great grandchildren and 2 brothers.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

There will be a visitation on Friday, December 1, 2023 beginning at 10:30 am at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL.  A service will immediately follow at 11:30am also at the funeral home.  His final resting place will be at Dakota Cemetery.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
