Freeport – James W. Manske, 75 of Freeport passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at St. Joseph's Ascension Living Center.   He was born on October 22, 1948 in Harvey, Illinois. He attended Freeport High School and worked at Chrysler for 42 years.  James was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne. He was also enlisted in the Army Reserves after his discharge.  He was a lifelong member of the Eagles Club.  James enjoyed working on his cars, watching NASCAR and spending time with friends.  Family was most important to him.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha of Freeport; his children Michelle (Mike) Knight, John (Melissa) Birmingham, Scott (Barb) Manske, Melissa (Cleveland) Birmingham and James (Brenda) Manske.  His brothers; Pat (Mary) Manske, Lynn Brei, Tim Brei, David Brei; and sister, Bridget Brei.  His legacy includes his grandchildren, Olivia, Lauren, Marlik, Brianna, Drew, Bryce, Brandon, Katelyn, Cayden, Cameron and Cassie as well as several great grandchildren and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; son, Robert; grandson, Brandon; and brother, Mike.
