James H. Nelson, age 78 died December 24, 2019. He was born November 7, 1941 to James E.  and Ina (Geiseman) Nelson. He married Shirley Kostenbader on March 2, 1963 in Freeport.

He worked as a pressman for Wagner Printing. James attended Faith Center Church of Freeport. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting and going to auctions. He loved Oliver, his golden retriever.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Nelson of Freeport; sons, Shawn (Angela) Nelson of Eagle, CO and James Robert Nelson of Freeport; daughter, Cathy (Nathan) Conder of Freeport; and grandchildren: Nathan, Colton, Noah & Israella Conder; Courtney Millslagle; and Penny & Thomas Wojtacha. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Hyla Carroll.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 am at Faith Center Church in Freeport with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
