James William Oswalt of Freeport passed away on February 23rd, 2017. A father, grandfather, experienced outdoorsman and War Hero, he will be dearly missed by nearly anyone he crossed paths with in his 89 years. Born in Juda, Wisconsin on November 27th 1927, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 11th Airborne from 1945-1947, before becoming a Freeport municipal employee until his retirement. He was married to his wife, Marlene for 66 years. Survived by his sons Brian and Blair, grandchildren Theo, Jessi, JoEllen and Heather as well as many extended family members and friends. Predeceased by brothers Elmer, Vince and Robert, and sisters Norma and LouEllen. The loss of Jim will be mourned by many. Memorial arrangements are pending.
