Freeport-James E. Peace, 74, of Freeport, died Saturday November 15, 2003 at the Freeport Memorial Hospital.
Born June 14, 1929 in Faulkner, Kansas he was the son of William H. and Myrtle N. (Johnson) Peace. He married H. Louise Anderson in February of 1946 in Palymra, Missouri.
He was a Psychology teacher at Highland Community College for 30 years retiring in 1996.
He received his undergraduate degree at Bradley University and his Masters Degree and advanced certificate from the University of Illinois in Champaign.
He was a member of IFT and the American Federation of Teachers. He was a past member of the American Psychological Association and the Malcolm Eaton Enterprises.
Surviving is his wife, H. Louise of Freeport; children, Sandra Reeser of Rockton, Lynn (Gary) Schleich of DeForest, Wisconsin, Patrick (Jane) Peace of Pinehurst, North Carolina, Mark (Mary) Peace of Loves Park, Jaime (Darryl) Busser of Pearl City, Matthew Peace of Freeport, Michael Peace of Champaign, Rebecca (Joe) Conder of Lena, and Greg (Suzanne) Peace of Freeport; sister, Ressa Lykins of East Peoria; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Peace; 4 sisters and one brother.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Mortuary with Msgr. P. William McDonnell of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Highland Community College Foundation.
