Freeport
James Lee Strohecker, 68, of Freeport, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the V.A. Hospital in Madison Wisconsin.
Born April 21, 1943 in Freeport he was the son of Berton and Orelda (Barklow) Strohecker. He married Nancy J. Richtman November 17, 1976.
James was a Vietnam Veteran.
He was a Police Officer with the Freeport Police Department for 23 years until his retirement in 1993. He then did security work with FHN Memorial Hospital, Stephenson County Sheriff's Department, and the Freeport Raceway.
His memberships included, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, VFW, AM Vets, Pearl City American Legion, Pearl City Masonic Lodge, and Scottish Rite Bodies.
Surviving are his mother, Orelda, of Pearl, City; his wife, Nancy of Freeport; 2 sons, Steven Strohecker of Freeport and Michael (Lisa) Brooks of Belvidere; 2 daughters, Sandra (Anthony) Meyers and Jacquelyn (Robert) Shaffer both of Freeport; 8 grandchildren, Nathan Meyers, Corinne Castle, Timothy Castle Jr., Anthony Castle, Aaron Brooks, Trisha Brooks, Jayme Brooks, and Ashlee Brooks; 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, June.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been estabished in his name.
