Davis – Jamie Diane (Rhyner) Horstmeier, 68 of Davis passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side.  She was born October 16, 1953 in Rockford to Robert and Carolyn (Dahlgren) Rhyner.  She married Merle Horstmeier on June 11, 1977 at St. Paul Epleyanna Church in Davis and together they built a wonderful life of 45 years.

Jamie was an educator for 37 years in the Durand School district where she left a legacy of her love and adoration of her students.  She attained her Masters degree in 2001.  She developed the Accelerated Readers Auction and the 2 ^nd grade play "Bugz Life"at the Durand Elementary School. She was also an integral part of the Gifted Program at Durand Elementary for the students.  She loved to read, bake, flower garden, travel with Merle to the Southwest states and attend rodeos.

She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Rhyner of Durand; her husband, Merle and son, Matthew both of Davis. Her sisters, Linda (Dennis) Meinert of Davis; Joni (Francis) Vormezeele of Durand and her brother, Randy (Elizabeth) Rhyner of Durand. Her brother-in-law, Mark (Sue) Horstmeier and sister-in-law, Margo (Jeff) Turman both of Davis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father and her Uncle Bill Rhyner.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 5 ^th at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Dakota, IL from 4-7pm.  Services will take place on Wednesday, July 6 ^th at the Davis United Methodist Church at 10am.  Burial will take place at Howard Union Cemetery.  A memorial has been established in her name.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
