Jane Hammer , age 93 of Freeport, IL passed away peacefully into the arms of her Father on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. She was born April 5, 1924 in Stockton to the late Ross and Jennie (Flack) Pierce. Jane married Austin Hammer on February 14, 1944.

Jane was a graduate of Stockton High School. She was very active in the First Church of the Nazarene and the Free Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. Jane enjoyed oil painting and painting china. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Austin Hammer of Freeport; her daughters, Sandra (Mick) Sager of Freeport, Cheryll (Dick) Haight of Freeport and Shelby (Tim) Erickson of WI; her grandchildren, Tyler (Dani) Sager of IN, Kelly (Brent) Wells of WI, Rich (Tammy) Haight of Freeport, Brent (Jennifer) Haight of TX, Travis (Stacey) Haight of Pecatonica, Haley Broge of WI and Blair Erickson of WI; her great grandchildren, Caleb Wells, Abby Jane Wells, Felix Sager, Madalyn Haight, Makayla Haight, Josh Haight, Raeanna Haight, Simone Haight, Landen Haight and Emma Jane Haight; her sister, Darlene Rowe of AL; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Harvey and Melvin; and her four sisters, Zelda, Bernice, Jean and Dorothy.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Freeport at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established.
