Columbia, S.C. - Jane Rouen Kuhnen Libke, 91, formerly of Freeport, IL died Friday, July 27, 2007 at the National Health Care Parklane Center in Columbia, S.C. Born January 12, 1916 in Elkhart, Ind. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Josephine (Rouen) Kuhnen. On May 1, 1972 she married Marvin J. Libke in Elkhart, Ind. Jane worked 32 years for American Insurance Company until her retirement in 1968. She was a former member of St. John United Church of Christ, Freeport, IL. She was a member of the Tau Alpha Circle and the Pairs & Spares group. She loved to play bridge, a round of golf and also enjoyed bowling with other couples. Surviving are her husband, Marvin of 36 years; 2 step sons, Bruce (Janet) Libke of Elgin S.C. and Brian Libke of Belvidere, IL; 2 step grandsons, Matthew Libke of Naperville, IL and Gregory (Emily) Libke of Fort Mills, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday August 6, 2007 at St. John United Church of Christ in Freeport, IL with the Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher of St. John United Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rockford, IL. A memorial has been established in her name for St. John United Church of Christ and Lutheran Hospice, 1505 Blanding St. Columbia, SC 29201. The family wishes to extend its heart felt gratitude to the staff and nurses of NHC Parklane and Lutheran Hospice of Columbia for the loving care they provided Jane during her time of need.
