Freeport; Jane B. Stephens, 88 of Freeport died Tuesday May 26, 2009 at Stephenson Nursing Center, Freeport. Born July 19, 1920 in Freeport she was the daughter of Thomas B. and Elise M. (Gross) Cook. On December 25, 1947 she married Darrell K. Stephens in Freeport. Jane worked for the Freeport Insurance Company for over 34 years retiring in 1972. She was a 50 year member of the First Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir for over 30 years. Surviving is her husband of over 50 years, Darrell. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Kathleen Luke of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12 noon until the time of service at the Mortuary. A memorial has been established.
