Janet L. Dumroese, 82, a life long resident of Freeport, and most recently a resident at Stephenson Nursing Center, met her Lord and Savior December 29, 2007, after a brief hospitalization.
Born on July 4, 1925 in Freeport she was the daughter of LeeRoy W. and Mabel M. (Huber) Kasten. Being born on the 4th of July, she loved celebrating her birthday with fireworks. After attending Immanuel Lutheran School and graduating from Freeport High School, she worked at Burgess Battery as part of the war effort. Janet met Ronald Dumroese soon after and they were married on September 8, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport. In 1996 Janet and Ron celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Janet was employed by Micro Switch for nearly 20 years as a key punch operator. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Freeport.
Surviving are her daughters, Ruth (Paul) Heaton of Elk Grove, CA; Rhoda Fink of Lanark; her son, R. Kasten (Deborah) Dumroese of Moscow, Idaho; her brother, Lowell "Luke" (Jean) Kasten of Delavan, WI; and her sister, Rita (James) Mitchell of Winnebago. Janet has four grandchildren, Peter (fiancée JorjAnn Stayner) Fink of Lanark; Christopher (Deanna) Fink of Lanark; Jennifer Kehres of Concord, CA; and Niklaas Dumroese of Moscow, ID. There are 6 great grandchildren, Samantha and Katelyn Fink, Kayla Kehres, and Ryan, Michael and John Hobbs of Concord, CA. There are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law Ted Fink.
Funeral service will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Neville Kretzmann officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.
