Born December 31, 1916 in Stockton she was the daughter of Walter and Myrtle (Rush) Parker. She married Gerald Prasse October 13, 1951 and he died in March of 1990.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Janet's grandchildren & great grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, and refinishing antiques.
Surviving is her daughter, Kristine Scheider of Freeport; 1 son, Jeffrey (Terry Gebert) Prasse of Chicago; 1 sister, Leah Parker of Freeport; 2 grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Smith of Loves Park and Erica (Mason Hatfield) Marsh of Freeport; 2 great great grandchildren, Maddox Hatfield and Madison Smith; 1 step great great grandchild, Elijah Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 sister; and 1 brother.
Her body has been donated to Science.
Memorial service will be Wednesday 1 p.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Douglas Q. Bowden and Reverend Bruce Janes of Faith United Methodist Church officiating.
There will be a gathering Wednesday 12 noon until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
Memorials have been established for FHN Memorial Hospice and Faith United Methodist Church.
