Janet A. (Seitz) Galbo, age 66 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017, after a long battle with cancer, at the Presence St. Joseph Center in Freeport. She was born January 29, 1951, in Racine, WI, the daughter of the late Edwin and Sylvia (Donat) Seitz. She graduated from William Horlick High School in Racine in 1969 and went on to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education. On September 23, 1978, Janet was united in marriage to John Galbo.
Janet taught for 35 years at several schools in Freeport. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, her card club, and loved to travel. Most of all, she loved and cherished time spent with her family.
Janet was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, John Galbo of Freeport; sons, John Galbo Jr. of Rockford, IL and Daniel Galbo of Freeport, IL; sisters, Cindy Leibner, Sue (Tom) Sturm, Diane (Dick) Tuttle, Judy (Mike) Kusters, and Marlene (Jim) Simanek; sister-in-laws, Hazel Halloway, Rosalie Ehrlich, Ethelle Burkholder; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-laws, Marie Galbo and Virginia Hazelo; and brother-in-law, Cris Leibner.
Janet's family would like to thank Heartland Hospice, the staff at Presence St. Joseph, and Dr. S. Sreenivasappa of OSF Oncology for the wonderful care given to Janet.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 13th, with visitation at 1:00 pm, followed by a service at 2:00 pm at Walker Mortuary, 321 W. Main St., Freeport, IL. A private interment will take place at West Lawn Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, WI. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society.Visits: 0
