August 20, 1950 – May 7, 2023
Freeport – Janice "Kay" Klever, 72 of Freeport joined her heavenly family while at Generations at Neighbors Rehabilitation Center in Byron, IL on May 7, 2023. She was born August 20, 1950 in Charleston, IL to the late Jesse and Marion (Dolsen) Taylor. She married, Jerry Klever on September 16, 1972.
She was a teacher and a case worker for IDHS. Kay belonged to Harmony United Methodist Church and she was a Hospice Volunteer for many years. She loved to crochet and she was a die-hard Cubs fan. Reading romance novels, collecting cookbooks and angels, crocheting and coloring were favorite past-times as well. She was a former ABWA Jane Addams chapter member and the 1993 Queen of the Stephenson County Antique Engine club. Kay had a very giving heart and would help anyone in need.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Freeport; her sisters, Deanne Vasiloff of Granite City, IL and Jill (Wayne) Temple of Charleston, IL. Her cousin, Leta Zane of Charlesotn, IL; her best friend and sister-in-law, Cheryl Klever of Springfield, IL as well as dear friends, Mary Seefeldt of Freeport and Pat Lohr of Cedarville. Her legacy also includes many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Landon Taylor and her brothers-in-law, John Vasiloff and Michael Klever.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 beginning at 11am – 1pm at Harmony United Methodist Church, on Pearl City Rd. A service will immediately follow at 1pm also at the church. Her final resting place will be at Oakland Mausoleum. A memorial has been established in her name for the Silver Creek Museum. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com
