Janice E. Nickel, 71, of Freeport, died Monday, February 2, 2015.
Born May 20, 1943 in Iowa she was the daughter of Glenn C. and Dorothy (Swenson) Sisler, Jr.
She worked at Micro Switch for four years, 29 years for the Freeport School District, and 15 years at Kmart.
She was a member of Embury United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children Eric Nickel, Laura (Tim) Edmund, and Mike Nickel all of Freeport, Susan (John) Kraft of Pecatonica; sister Candice Kehl of Freeport; brother, Mark Sisler of Freeport; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Alice Yahnke and granddaughter, Madelynn Nickel.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Chapel of Peace in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Friends Forever Humane Society and FHN Memorial Hospice.
