Jeanette Spelman, 95, of Freeport died Monday February 2, 2009 at the Freeport Rehab and Health Care Center. Born November 9, 1913 at Rock Grove Township she was the daughter of David and Flossie Bottorf. She was a 1932 graduate of Dakota High School. Prior to getting married she worked as a telephone operator for Rock Grove. Jeanette and Clement Spelman were married at Irish Grove on April 11, 1942, Clement died December 25, 1982. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church at Irish Grove, Davis, Stephenson County Home Extension, St. Ann's Sodality and the Irish Grove Bunko Club. She is survived by one son Ronald (Jody) Spelman; one daughter Donna (Glenn) Busjahn both of Davis; 4 grandchildren Kimberly and Jami Spelman both of Freeport, Andrew Busjahn of Rockford, Kara Busjahn of Davis; one great grandson Xander Busjahn of Davis, one sister Arlene Dailey of Rockford. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers Volney and Lester Bottorf, one sister Mae Elliott, 2 granddaughters Tina and Kathleen Spelman.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm Thursday at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, followed by a prayer service at 7 pm.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church Irish Grove, Davis. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
