Jeanne E. Wells, 84 of Dakota passed away at home surrounded by her family on May 16, 2023. She was born on August 30, 1938 to the late Russell and Edna (Fiene) Zimmerman. She graduated from Dakota high School in 1956 and on graduation night, Gary Wells proposed to her and they were married December 29th of 1956. Jeanne was a farm wife and she worked at Rock City Bank for several years. She also served her church as the church secretary and was on the Dakota school board. Jeanne and Gary enjoyed traveling out West every year to the mountains in Colorado. The family trip to Hawaii for her parent's 50 th wedding anniversary was a sweet memory for her. She was famous for her cream puffs, she loved being with her family, and attending her grandchildren's events over the years.
She is survived by her children, Valerie (David) Goeke of Dakota, Tom (Marcia) Wells of Ridott, Mark (Erin) Wells of Dakota, Chris (Tina) Wells of Dakota, and Andrea (Dorian) Haffelder of Fort Atkinson, WI; grandchildren, Lonelle (Paul) Babler, Tim (Lindsay), Curtis(Kelsey), and Samantha (Cody Baker) Goeke, Ashley (Tim) Lameyer, Michael(Katie) Wells, Candace (Mike Rust)Wells and Kassandra (Adam) Di Modica, Joey and Elwyn Thomm, Miranda Wells, Brieanne (Anthoney) DiModica, Sydney (Weston Strese), Caleb, and Claire Haffelder; 17 great grandchildren and another one due in September; sisters Joanne (Jim) Yeoman of Dakota and Joyce (Garry) Leonard of Sandy, UT; brother, Vaughn (Sally) Zimmerman of Davis; brothers-in-law, Joel (Nancy) Wells of Davis, IL and Dennis (Karen) Wells of Dakota and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, great granddaughter, Brynn Wells; father and mother-in-law, Lester and Alberta Wells.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, May 24 th from 4-7pm at Indian Grove Country Church in Rock City. An additional visitation will take place on Thursday, May 25 th beginning at 9:30am followed by a service at 10:30am all at Indian Grove Country Church. Her final resting place will be next to Gary at Dakota cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
