Jeannine A. Bennehoff, 83, of Freeport, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born December 13, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio she was the daughter of Russell and Blanche (Moore) DeWitt. She married Melvin Bennehoff December 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death.
She and her husband farmed together in rural Freeport until his death in 1995.
An excellent seamstress, she enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, boating, and traveling. Jeannine loved going to her winter home in Arizona.
Her memberships included, St John United Church of Christ, member and past president of Avion Travelcade Club, and Teton International Travel Club.
Surviving are her daughters, Rhona (Darrell) Woodley of Lena, Melva (Larry) Dodson, Debra (Jeff) Nesemeyer, and Cheryl (Bill) Lieber all of Freeport; a sister, Donita Rosenberg of Florida; nine grandchildren, Brad (Jody) Woodley of Homer Glen, Nichole Woodley of Sycamore, Daniel (Jody) Dodson of Palatine, Dorie (Nate) Sheppard of Freeport, David Dodson of Florida, Jered Nesemeyer and Jestin Nesemeyer both of Freeport, Brynn Lieber of Lena, and Brandon (Michelle Magee) Lieber of Freeport; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister; and a brother.
A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Memorials have been established for St. John United Church of Christ and FHN Foundation.
