Obituary

Freeport- Joan E. Crawford Bardell, 76 of Pearl City died Monday evening, November 26, 2007 at FHN Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born July 14, 1931 in Freeport, she was the daughter of James and Myrtle (Folgate) Crawford. She and Robert Bardell were married August 19, 1961, he preceded her in death in September of 2000. She worked at Micro Switch for 28 years and was a group leader when she retired in 1986.
Joan and her husband were active in the antiques business and had a booth at Savanna Antiques Mall. Joan gave her unconditional love and support to all of her family and friends even during this past year while she was undergoing treatment for cancer.
Joan was a member of Stephenson County Association for Home and Community Education and she worked as an election judge in Pearl City for many years. She delivered Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Auxiliary Club at Freeport Rehabilitation Center. She was an enthusiastic participant in American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one daughter Linda (Mark) Winstead of Roscoe; three sons Kevin (Diana) Denton of Freeport, Rory (Diane) Bardell, Brian (Joani) Bardell both of Pearl City; three sisters Betty Kraft, Phyllis Janicke, Barbara (Jim Peters) Smith all of Freeport, three brothers James (Tootie) Crawford of IA, John (Mary) Crawford of Freeport, Leroy (Shirley) Crawford of CO; grandchildren Ryan (Becky)Winstead, Kelly (Amari) Latta, Jennifer (Eric) Hermonson, Jason (Lindsey) Bardell, Christopher Bardell; Step grandchildren Michelle Downton, Angela Friend, Billy Siegner, Kellie Siegner; four great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two aunts Evelyn Lamb of DeKalb, Marie Folgate of Freeport; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; she also had special lifelong friends as well as a host of traveling and card club companions she took great pleasure in spending time with. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother and two grandchildren Candi and K.C. Denton.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at FHN Memorial Hospital for their attentiveness and care during her illness and also to Pastor Luepke for his visits and prayers.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm Thursday at Walker Mortuary and Cremation Services.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Mark Luepke officiating.
Burial will be in the Gund Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for the Church.
