Davis - Joan L. Becke of Lake Summerset passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 15, 2023 after an extended illness. She was born October 24, 1938 in Pearl City, Il to Orville and Grace (Earnest) Dole.  She was the youngest of five siblings (Robert, Gerald, Charlene, and Lorraine, all deceased).  She was a graduate of Pearl City High School, and later pursued a career in nursing.

Jo nurtured and cared for so many over the years, including those at Lena Nursing Center and Medina Nursing Center. Jo was a beloved wife to David D. Becke and Mother to seven children; Michael (Brenda) Brown, Geanie (Ryan) Rayburn, Annie Brown, Kevin Brown (deceased), and Patrick (Annika) Brown, Laura Becke, and Greg Becke. She was a much-loved Grandmother to fourteen, Great-Grandmother to eighteen and Great-Great Grandmother to one.  She was so proud of all of them and was proud of the fact that three of her children had served in different branches of the military.

Jo will be remembered as a sweet and caring person who was active in her church, as well as throughout her community.  She was devoted to her friends and family and was there any time someone needed a helping hand, a hot meal, or an encouraging word.  She was known for her delicious pie-baking skills and baked numerous pies to give away or to welcome family and friends to her home.  Jo enjoyed reading and music, and especially enjoyed spending time with her kitties, as well as visiting wineries with Dave and her Granddaughter, Elizabeth and husband Jordan.  She will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege and honor to know her and love her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20th from 10am – 11am at Winneshiek Evangelical Free Church and will be immediately followed by a service commemorating Jo's life at 11am.  Burial will be held at Lena Burial Park following the service.  Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
